University District Outreach Impact
(2022-Present)
Context: The University District Organization conducts outreach with unhoused residents to provide support and services. The results of the outreach program are reported on yearly. Communicating the outcomes of this work is used for building empathy, demonstrating value to funders, and informing strategy.
Role: On this page you’ll see a collection of maps and visual frameworks I created to communicate the experiences of the unhoused residents living in the University District. These visuals synthesize individual stories and program data, making the lived experiences of unhoused residents more accessible and actionable for stakeholders.
Outcome: The work improved shared understanding among staff, informed program reporting, and supported advocacy for expanded services.

This service flow map diagrams the end-to-end process of outreach engagement — from street contact to connection with housing, healthcare, and supportive services. This helped clarify where each partner contributes and where coordination challenges occur.
This image shows the journey that one of the UD Outreach Center’s clients went through to ultimately find housing.
By making invisible systems visible, this project created a shared language between outreach staff, the UDO board, and district-level stakeholders. The visuals built empathy, revealed points of friction, and helped decision-makers see where the system could evolve next.
